Wingspan is one of the most celebrated engine-building games of recent years, and for good reason. You're building a network of birds across three habitats forest, grassland, and wetland each with abilities that chain together and grow more powerful as your engine develops. Accessible enough for newer players, satisfying enough for experienced ones.
Each round, players take actions to gain food, lay eggs, and draw bird cards, placing birds into their habitats to trigger cascading effects. The game rewards careful hand management and long-term planning, but the bird-themed presentation keeps it approachable and visually engaging throughout.
